About the Role

Maynard Nursing Home is seeking a Contracted Music Therapist to join their team in Toronto, Ontario. This role supports residents as needed and reflective of their care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, review and assessing therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid the planning of subsequent sessions.
  • Take an active role in sessions by playing, singing, and listening.
  • Encourage residents to take part in the session, and supporting them by responding musically.
  • Help residents explore the world of sound and to create a musical language of their own.
  • Support the resident’s creative development and facilitating positive changes in their behavior and well-being.

Requirements

  • Degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for Accreditation with The Canadian Association of Music Therapists.
  • Experience working with seniors is an asset.
