About the Role
The BLS Supervisor oversees daily field operations, personnel, fleet readiness, regulatory compliance, and station operations within the Montefiore Division. This role acts as a liaison between field staff, operations management, and external agencies to ensure efficient and compliant EMS operations while upholding high standards of professionalism and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and support to EMT personnel during assigned tours.
- Ensure all units are staffed, operational, and in-service, including covering a BLS unit if there is a single vacancy.
- Monitor unit status throughout the tour and ensure compliance with directive 2024-11 titled "Log-On and Out-of-Service Guidelines for EMTs and Paramedics".
- Ensure all electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCRs) are completed and submitted by all members prior to the end of their tour through monitoring of HealthEMS Manager.
- Review operational performance metrics and address deficiencies related to documentation, response readiness, and employee compliance.
- Ensure FDNY CRCC rundowns are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Maintain continuous communication with FDNY CRCC and ensure the division is updated throughout the duration of the tour.
- Monitor fleet readiness and ensure all vehicles are maintained in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
- Ensure all vehicles remain compliant with New York State Part 800 regulations and company operational standards.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, and out-of-service issues with appropriate fleet and operations personnel.
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles, equipment, and station facilities to ensure operational readiness.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of medical and station supplies are maintained.
- Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of the station and garage, coordinating with the Building Maintenance Director regarding cleaning supplies and facility upkeep.
- Investigate and document operational incidents, employee concerns, and policy violations as directed.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to field personnel as needed.
- Maintain professional communication with FDNY, hospital staff, and other external partners.
- Perform additional duties assigned by Operations Management.
- Issue corrective actions when appropriate.
Requirements
- Current New York State EMT certification required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of FDNY EMS operations, HealthEMS, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
