About the Role
San Francisco University High School (UHS) is seeking an energetic, professional, and engaging Public Address Announcer to bring home athletic events to life. This role is crucial for creating a professional, welcoming, and uniquely University atmosphere, setting the tone for student-athletes, families, and fans.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the public address voice for assigned University Athletics home competitions and special events.
- Deliver clear, accurate, enthusiastic, and professional in-game announcements.
- Introduce teams, starting lineups, coaches, officials, and special guests.
- Recognize milestones, Senior Night participants, championship teams, and other special moments.
- Develop and prepare game scripts, announcements, and promotional reads in collaboration with the Athletics Department.
- Assist with game-day music planning and the overall flow of the in-venue experience.
- Work closely with Athletics staff, coaches, game management personnel, and event staff.
- Help create an energetic environment while maintaining appropriate neutrality, professionalism, and sportsmanship.
- Ensure names, pronunciations, team information, and event details are prepared and communicated accurately.
- Follow all UHS, Bay Area Conference, North Coast Section, and CIF policies and expectations.
- Represent University High School and University Athletics with professionalism, care, and integrity.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous public address, broadcasting, emcee, radio, podcasting, or live-event experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basketball and volleyball is strongly preferred.
- Availability for afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend competitions throughout the school year.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to arrive well in advance of assigned events.
- All finalists will be asked to submit an audition clip demonstrating clarity, energy, pronunciation, and overall announcing style.
