About the Role

As a Fundamental Research Group (FRG) Associate at Capital Group, you will collaborate closely with Investment Professionals to deliver valuable insights and conduct bottom-up fundamental research and analysis that drives investment decisions. You will partner with Investment Professionals on their coverage to help generate investment ideas and monitor holdings by researching and analyzing companies and related industries, performing financial modeling, drafting reports, facilitating meetings with management teams, sell-side firms and industry experts, and contributing to the investment process. You will work on projects with growing complexity over time, receiving direction and mentorship from experienced investment professionals. We are seeking candidates with a broad equity research background and the ability to support a diverse coverage universe that includes small- and mid-cap companies. Knowledge of Industrials is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Investment Professionals and peers to deliver valuable insights and conduct bottom-up fundamental research and analysis.
  • Partner with Investment Professionals on their coverage to help generate investment ideas and monitor holdings.
  • Research and analyze companies and related industries.
  • Perform financial modeling.
  • Draft reports.
  • Facilitate meetings with management teams, sell-side firms, and industry experts.
  • Act as a key contributor in the investment process.
  • Work on projects with growing complexity over time.
  • Receive direction and mentorship from experienced investment professionals.
  • Support a diverse coverage universe including small- and mid-cap companies.
  • Conduct research trips to meet with company management teams and investment professionals.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with detailed financial modeling and fundamental analysis.
  • Experience working with sell-side firms and industry consultants.
  • Experience utilizing research tools, trade publications, online sources, and regulatory filings.
  • Ability to interpret information to generate insightful analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field (equity research, investment banking, consulting, accounting or other).
  • Passionate about a career in equity research with a strong interest in long-only investing.
  • Strong desire to continue to develop bottom-up fundamental research skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain comprehensive charts and visualizations to support equity analysis and communicate investment insights effectively.
  • Thrive in team settings.
  • Ask good questions, bounce ideas off others and proactively share perspective.
  • Enjoy learning new things and can flex to varying work styles and expectations.
  • Inquisitive mind, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity surrounding financial markets and industry trends.

  • Southern California Base Salary Range: $141,648-$226,637
  • San Francisco Base Salary Range: $165,185-$264,296
  • New York Base Salary Range: $150,155-$240,248
