About the Role

The MCR standard is to provide clean, friendly, well-organized and safe hotels for our guests. The Bartender provides customized beverage service to each of the hotel’s restaurant/bar customers in a friendly, energetic, and timely manner, ensuring the guest is having a great time and/or relaxing while at the bar.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile.
  • Use the guests’ names whenever possible, ensuring they feel properly welcomed.
  • Contribute to great guest satisfaction scores.
  • Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and a sense of urgency.
  • Possess strong knowledge of all features of the hotel facility and amenities.
  • Be aware of and support all groups and events at the hotel.
  • Understand relevant technology for the role.
  • Answer all incoming calls with friendly service using the approved greeting.
  • Keep all areas, both front and back of the house, clean and well-organized.
  • Pitch in to clean guest rooms and public spaces as needed.
  • Greet every guest happily with a smile, by name if possible, while cleaning.
  • Complete all operational checklists accurately and at the designated times, every shift.
  • Ensure handover reports are accurate and on time for effective shift-to-shift communication.
  • Wear a clean, approved uniform and be well-groomed per the Team Member Handbook, while wearing a nametag and smiling at all times.
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with Team Members.
  • Exhibit a can-do attitude, willing to stretch beyond traditional role to meet the needs of the business and MCR’s guests.
  • Work together to create a welcoming environment for guests and an effective, positive workplace.
  • Greet guests and give a clear and correct description of food and beverage options.
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar area.
  • Stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, and produce.
  • Maintain stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables.
  • Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practice portion control.
  • Attend monthly departmental meetings.
  • Input orders into computer and secure accurate payment.
  • Receive cash from guests, make change, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed to balance all moneys.
  • Lock up and store all beverages, food and other equipment items, deposit cash drops and secure bank at end of shift.
  • Sanitize and clean in and around the bar area.
  • Complete daily inventory prep sheet and other side work.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity of current food and beverage offerings.
  • Promote and document orders for drinks.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and handling policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant and surrounding areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hours and available amenities of the hotel.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with the service and kitchen teams.

Requirements

  • Experience in a hospitality, service, consumer-facing franchise or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of drink preparation preferred.
  • Previous bartender experience preferred.
  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions, assigned tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Always provide friendly service with a smile to guests.
  • Flexible schedule with availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel.
  • Must arrive and clock in on time for every shift worked and clock out at the scheduled shift ending time, unless otherwise directed by your immediate manager.
  • Never work while clocked out.
  • Must clock in/out for breaks at the designated time on your schedule.
  • Must provide sufficient notice as directed by your supervisor when calling out for a scheduled shift.
  • Regularly required to stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Regularly required to walk to accomplish tasks.
  • Regularly required to make substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Required to lift and carry certain laundry supplies, linens and other items.
  • Able to read, write, understand and communicate with others effectively using the English language.
