About the Role

Morgan Foods, Inc. has a 1st-shift plant-floor Processing Supervisor role available. Supervisors spend 85%+ of each shift in direct floor supervision activities. Roles are eligible for premium pay after 45 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Safety Champion, ensuring a safe work environment and employee safety.
  • Spend over 85% of time on the plant floor supervising employees and processes.
  • Assign and direct union employees to meet operational goals safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with HR and management on hiring, onboarding, training, evaluation, discipline, and terminations.
  • Schedule employees to meet production goals while minimizing overtime.
  • Supervise processing employees and department activities to ensure adherence to PSOPs, SQF, GMPs, Safety, and Company policies.
  • Monitor shift operations through direct observations, checklists, and record documentation for efficiency and safety.
  • Participate in quality, food safety, and safety audits, identifying and resolving nonconformances.
  • Engage in positive communication with employees and personnel regarding operations, equipment, and safety.
  • Administer union contract provisions and participate in the grievance process.
  • Schedule, review, correct, and approve employee time and attendance in the HRIS system.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Process Control, and Scheduling/Planning.
  • Monitor and requisition supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Utilize a continuous improvement approach and participate in initiatives, including Lean Six Sigma.
  • Work in a manufacturing plant environment, which is not climate-controlled.
  • Read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety rules, and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain composure and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and consistent attendance.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Work assigned shifts, including potential weekends or holidays, with flexibility.
  • Perform tasks requiring frequent walking, standing, climbing, twisting, reaching, bending, and manipulating tools/equipment.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.

Requirements

  • College degree with emphasis in Industrial, Manufacturing, Food Science, Supply Chain, or Leadership, OR High School Diploma/equivalent with a minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment within a union facility.
  • Manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification desired or ability to attain.
  • Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • SAP experience or other ERP system desired.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Organized, detailed, with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Works within a person-centered, collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills highly desired.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, involving 9+ hours, weekends, or holidays as needed with flexibility to support production demands.
