About the Role
RapidFire Safety & Security is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician for its Austin branch. This role involves providing high-quality customer support through on-site service, installation, inspection, repairing, and replacement of fire alarm equipment, including preventive maintenance for various manufacturers.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 standards.
- Test and inspect fire alarm systems for compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance on fire alarm systems, including testing, cleaning, and repairing components.
- Collaborate with construction teams to integrate fire alarm systems into building designs.
- Provide technical support and training to team members on fire alarm systems.
- Respond promptly to service calls and resolve issues professionally.
- Stay updated on the latest fire alarm technologies and safety regulations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a similar construction industry role.
- Extensive knowledge of fire alarm systems, including Silent Knight and Fire-Lite.
- Proficiency in NFPA 72 and relevant safety regulations.
- Strong skills in low voltage electrical wiring.
- Experience with installation, programming, and troubleshooting of security and fire alarms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork ability.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Ability to spend prolonged periods standing, sitting, or walking.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear safety attire.
- Capability to work in noisy environments.
- Requires ability to manipulate tools, components, and materials.
- Ability to work in high or elevated places and/or in tight spaces.
- Capable of working on ladders, aerial lifts, and elevated platforms.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, controls, and their interdependencies.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and system logs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
