About the Role
As Mercury grows, we are evolving our frontend foundations to support our expanding product. We are seeking an engineer to help strengthen and refine these foundations, making our engineers as excited about the frontend as our customers are about our product.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen frontend foundations by evolving React, TypeScript, and Vite infrastructure.
- Enhance engineer efficiency through automation using static analysis, local tools, and LLM coding tools.
- Optimize the testing platform for fast feedback loops and high confidence.
- Ensure CI/CD pipelines are stable, ergonomic, and fast to support frequent deployments.
- Improve system and organizational observability by unifying technical and sentiment metrics.
- Foster enthusiasm for frontend work by making the good path the easy path and representing frontend work.
- Drive decisions by unifying technical metrics from tools with sentiment metrics from developer surveys.
Requirements
- 6-8+ years of software development experience with a strong frontend focus.
- Deep experience with React and Typescript.
- Experience leading complex engineering projects across multiple teams and functions.
- Experience with multi-stage rollouts or projects requiring research and consensus-building.
- Confident communicator adept at communicating across organization boundaries.
- Experience maintaining internal libraries or platform tooling.
- Prioritizes being helpful and taking initiative to make other developers' lives easier.
- Thorough understanding of modern frontend developer tooling and workflows.
- Experience with build systems, CI/CD, web hosting, and testing.
- Willingness to investigate Vite internals, upstream fixes, or resolve deploy pipeline issues.
- Balances practicality with ideals, charting a course that matches reality while aiming for ambitious goals.
