About the Role

Stripe’s Product Legal team is responsible for managing the legal and regulatory elements of product design, build, and execution. In this role, you will be a key advisor to product, engineering, and partnerships teams, working on diverse matters spanning financial services, business, and technology.

Responsibilities

• Help Stripe product teams navigate the intersection of technological innovation, e-commerce user experiences, and financial services compliance.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, partnerships, compliance, risk, and marketing teams on product development and commercialization.
• Advise on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting products, identifying trends and potential impacts on business activities.
• Adapt existing laws to new technologies.
• Support Stripe's regulatory structure, customer agreements, and strategic financial partnerships.
• Help scope and build scalable processes for legal review and launch of new products.
• Stay up-to-date on US and international laws and regulations pertaining to cryptocurrency, stablecoin, and traditional financial services products.
• Act as a proactive and strategic business partner to senior managers and serve as a trusted advisor.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm, in-house legal team, and/or government agency.
• Expertise in cryptocurrency and stablecoin product development, and related laws and regulations.
• Familiarity with counseling teams that solve issues through technology by translating complex legal requirements into clear and actionable advice.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teammates and share knowledge and experience.
• A qualified US lawyer.
• Passion for technology and ability to understand complex business models and product use cases quickly.
• An entrepreneurial spirit; a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, deals well with ambiguity, and focuses on driving impact.
• Excellent judgment and capability to make smart decisions with imperfect information.
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Excellent project management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
