About the Role

Actively recruit students into vocational trade programs. This role involves traveling throughout New York State, meeting new people, and promoting program opportunities to potential students.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach activities with public service agencies, community organizations, schools, and individuals.
  • Interview interested candidates and obtain pertinent information.
  • Prepare documentation on potential students.
  • Maintain monthly goals.
  • Review and audit assigned areas for contractual compliance and effectiveness.
  • Arrange for and assist with pre-enrollment orientation and center tours.
  • Prepare reports related to outreach activities.
  • Assist in developing new and revised policies and procedures affecting student recruitment.
  • Create a network with youth development agencies, one-stop agencies, churches, and community organizations.
  • Introduce labor market information to assist with career transition and analyze career paths.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling behaviors, mentoring, and monitoring behaviors.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property.
  • Adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field.
  • Two years of related experience (Job Corps outreach and admissions, or other youth development programs).
  • Valid NY State Driver’s License.

Skills

  • Clear and concise presentation of information.
  • Ability to confirm correct interpretation of information.
  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in time management, task allocation, and personal organization.
  • Initiative in improving service and professional development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
