About the Role

This role is responsible for claims handling of the Property and Inwards Reinsurance Claims portfolio, focusing on Property Binders and D&F books, while also supporting other business classes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Adjust claims within the Claims Authority, adhering to Hamilton’s Claims Philosophy, Claims Protocols, and Lloyd’s Claims Principles.
• Handle Property Binder claims and mentor junior Property Claims Underwriters.
• Collaborate with Underwriting teams, providing regular updates and renewal information.
• Resolve claims issues with brokers and clients.
• Liaise with following and co-lead markets, including arranging and attending market meetings.
• Instruct and manage lawyers and experts for coverage determination, quantum assessment, or dispute handling.
• Act as the relationship manager and claims contact for DCAs within the Property Binders book.
• Oversee outsourced review and processing of monthly financial bordereaux, triaging issues to relevant stakeholders.
• Implement and adhere to the internal CAT plan.
• Review loss fund adequacy and assist in the recovery of loss funds on prior years.
• Apply Hamilton’s Reserving Philosophy for consistent, timely, and accurate claim reserving.
• Escalate large or complex claims and complete Executive Claims Summaries.
• Report claims to the Outwards Reinsurance Department and assist with recoveries from reinsurers.
• Assist with the company's delegation of claims authority to Cover holders and Delegated Claims Administrators (DCAs), including maintaining control frameworks, updating SLAs, and ensuring MI submission and peer review.

Requirements

• Experience in handling property binders and general property claims.
• Experience with inwards reinsurance claims is ideal.
• Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.
• Highly analytical and numerate with attention to detail.
• Willingness to work in a responsive, collaborative, and efficient manner.
