About the Role
The Room Supervisor leads the Afterschool Clubhouse room, fostering a positive, safe, and engaging environment for children and staff. This role involves guiding counselors, overseeing daily operations, ensuring policy compliance, and acting as a liaison between the team and program leadership.
Responsibilities
- Implement a daily routine including attendance protocols, activity planning, and free play time.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to counselors, providing guidance and activity ideas.
- Create and assist counselors with activity planning aligned with monthly themes.
- Establish and maintain a positive, professional tone and culture within the room.
- Support counselors in managing children and daily routines effectively.
- Lead by example, modeling professional behavior and best practices.
- Pick up children from schools and ensure their safe arrival at the Afterschool program.
- Ensure children arrive at enrichment classes on time and are safely escorted.
- Monitor the safety, well-being, and behavior of all children.
- Ensure proper dismissal procedures are followed, verifying identification and releasing children to authorized adults.
- Maintain ongoing communication with program leadership regarding activities, concerns, and successes.
- Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Oversee attendance records, weekly reports, and session evaluations.
- Plan and map out projects and activities in advance.
- Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings, training, and orientations.
- Assist with staff orientation and onboarding.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Adhere to all program policies and procedures, including limited cell phone use.
- Perform all responsibilities associated with the Afterschool Counselor role as needed.
Requirements
- Experience teaching specialty activity in a school, camp, or youth program environment.
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and accomplish tasks independently.
