About the Role
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Residential Services, this role ensures that Residence Counselors and other Direct Support Professionals on the awake overnight shift are trained and working in accordance with their job descriptions and site-specific responsibilities. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, interact positively with colleagues and individuals supported, and demonstrate the ability to train staff, create written reports, work third shift hours, and travel to residential sites.
Responsibilities

- Ensure protection from abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation for individuals supported.
- Effectively train new Direct Support Professionals on awake overnight shift routines and responsibilities.
- Provide ongoing training and guidance to awake overnight staff, including utilizing Agency computer-based training.
- Conduct unannounced visits to residences to ensure awake overnight staff are completing and documenting responsibilities.
- Provide immediate feedback and/or redirection as required, documenting discussions and forwarding to appropriate supervisory staff.
- Provide coverage for the awake overnight shift if immediate replacement of staff is necessary.
- Report issues with staff, individuals supported, maintenance, and safety concerns to the IRA Program Coordinator and Assistant Director by the next business day.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and review awake overnight documentation logs for accuracy.
- Follow up on documentation discrepancies in writing to appropriate supervisory staff.
- Provide input regarding the job performance of Direct Support Professionals to the Program Coordinator for Employee Appraisals.
- Assist in conducting third shift and early first shift fire drills.
- Provide transport to individuals supported for medical care or relieve regular staff for transport.
- Assume responsibility for assuring proper notification of emergencies occurring overnight, following On Call Guidelines.
- Provide assistance to individuals supported per treatment plan, ensuring appropriate levels of assistance.
- Successfully complete and maintain medication administration certification.
- Administer medication as required, completing all related documentation.
- Assure that the rights of each person supported are upheld and report any violations to the Administrative Team.
- Adhere to regulations contained in Part 624.4 and report any violations.
- Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with individuals supported, their families, friends, and neighbors.
- Provide leadership to and work alongside Direct Support Professionals.
- Act as a role model for individuals supported and other Direct Support Professionals.
- Advocate for individuals supported and their rights.
- Respect individuals supported's right to privacy and follow all agency and OPWDD guidelines regarding confidentiality.
- Respond to sensitive matters and/or situations with discretion.
- Demonstrate knowledge of person-centered excellence and personal outcome measures.
- Maintain and promote confidentiality in accordance with Agency policies.
- Comply with all aspects of the Agency's Safety Plan.
- Serve on Agency committees as assigned.
- Attend meetings as dictated by job responsibilities.
- Attend and complete all mandatory training.
- Adhere to scheduled hours and submit completed timesheets to supervisor on time each payroll period.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently and function as a team member with a wide range of individuals.

- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office.
- Obtain and maintain OPWDD Medication Certification.
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Obtain and maintain SCIP-R/PROMOTE Certification.
- Complete OPWDD mandatory training.
- Ability to train staff in providing quality support.
- Proficient in Agency Learning Management Computer System.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of experience as a Direct Support Professional, Residence Manager, or equivalent.
- Valid New York State Driver's License.
- Approved Driver's abstract.
