About the Role
Wunderlich-Malec Engineering (WM) is seeking a Controls Engineer in Austin, TX. This role is responsible for controls engineering project requirements including control system design, PLC programming, instrumentation, and start-up assistance. You will work on automation and control system integration projects for clients across multiple industries.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and implements control system logic software and hardware to meet process system requirements.
- Develops schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and designs equipment panel layouts using AutoCAD.
- Develops Sequence of Operation documents detailing control strategies and leads design reviews with customers.
- Performs system checkout and start-up of integrated control systems at customer sites.
- Develops final record system documentation and provides system training to customers.
- Works on automation and control system integration projects for clients in manufacturing and data center automation.
- Acts as a technical lead on projects, guiding junior engineers and technicians.
- Acts as Project Manager on projects up to $500k, including developing implementation plans, assigning work, managing schedules, evaluating progress, and handling purchasing and change orders.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering required (Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Three to Eight years of experience in control systems, components, logic programming, instrumentation, and controls design.
- Experience with SCADA systems (Rockwell, Inductive Automation, AVEVA Wonderware) and PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens) is required.
- Experience with DeltaV, AutoCAD, Fanuc, Keyence/Cognex Vision Systems is desired.
- Experience in Semiconductor, Battery EV/EV, or Data Center automation is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work with team members, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ability to travel up to 35%.
- Physical demands include seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, mounting/dismounting equipment, pushing, and pulling.
- Working environment includes standard office, on-site office, and diverse industrial environments.
