About the Role
Adaptive is a financial consulting firm seeking a Project Manager to join their NYC team. This role will be instrumental in building and shaping a new, Adaptive-owned product suite that is key to the company's future product strategy.
Responsibilities
- Ensure projects are executed as planned, on time, and on budget.
- Engage and inform stakeholders, ensuring their satisfaction.
- Provide teams with a clear understanding of project goals and their role, empowering them to deliver.
- Manage projects, understanding Agile delivery philosophy and tailoring processes to team structure and circumstances.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to document scope and build delivery plans.
- Provide accurate and timely updates on milestones and progress.
- Actively manage and mitigate project risks.
- Maintain a product roadmap, balancing requirements from multiple stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Adaptive teams using the product.
- Oversee production and maintenance of technical documentation and marketing materials.
- Share knowledge with the Adaptive Support team.
- Promote a Servant Leader mindset, empowering team members and involving them in decision-making.
- Identify and drive the resolution of problems affecting team harmony and performance.
- Understand software concepts to discuss problems and orchestrate strategy with various talents (Developers, QA, UX, BA, DevOps, Support).
- Work with distributed teams across multiple global offices.
- Listen to team members regarding job satisfaction and aspirations.
- Liaise with directors/HR to report relevant information.
- Participate in the probation process for new staff.
- Own or support the resourcing plan for projects or programs.
- Review proposed resourcing models with Delivery leadership and maintain resource forecasts.
- Identify team gaps and engage with delivery leadership to recruit new hires.
- Participate in the hiring of PM peers.
- Provide regular project status reporting to stakeholders.
- Use effective and transparent communication.
- Actively manage stakeholder expectations, make assumptions explicit, and create an audit trail of decisions.
- Liaise with the Account Manager to define and implement the communication plan.
- Report project status on a weekly basis.
- Escalate issues to the respective Engagement and/or Account Manager.
- Understand the legal framework for engagements.
- Ensure Adaptive and client contractual obligations are met.
- Escalate issues where breaches of obligations occur or are at risk.
- Own or support the delivery of target revenue and margin.
- Control budget and actuals, and forecast revenue and costs.
- Manage costs including resources, expenses, licenses, and vendors.
- Manage expenses in line with agreements.
- Identify IP to be captured for Adaptive (code, process, functional knowledge).
- Liaise with CTO and head of Project Execution to agree on IP capture plans.

- Understanding of software development concepts (real-time programming, high availability, TDD, BDD, acceptance criteria, visual design, backlog management, domain knowledge, DevOps, Support).
- Experience working with distributed teams.
- Experience in staff management, including listening to team members and liaising with HR.
- Experience in resourcing, including planning, forecasting, and recruitment.
- Experience in client and stakeholder management, including reporting and expectation management.
- Understanding of legal frameworks and contractual obligations.
- Experience in financial management, including revenue, margin, budget control, and cost management.
- Experience in capturing and sharing intellectual property.
