About the Role

The Test Technician performs a variety of tasks related to the testing of raw materials, manufactured products, or manufacturing processes. This role involves equipment calibration, testing, and program inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and condition nonmetallic samples for mechanical testing.
  • Operate mechanical testing equipment such as universal testing machines, DMA analyzers, and hardness testers.
  • Perform routine and specialized tests including: Tensile and elongation testing, Hardness testing (Shore, Rockwell), Compression testing, and Shear and flexural testing.
  • Record and analyze test data accurately using lab software and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot testing equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to support custom testing plans.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and documentation for clients.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in a mechanical testing or laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing standards (ASTM, ISO) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
  • Basic understanding of polymers, composites, and nonmetallic materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data entry systems.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
