About the Role
RES Home Care is seeking a compassionate and experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to provide specialized community-based services through the NYS Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver Program. This role focuses on empowering individuals with substance use challenges related to traumatic brain injury to live successfully in their communities.
Responsibilities
- Provides individualized assessment, treatment planning, counseling, education, relapse prevention, and recovery support to TBI Waiver participants.
- Develops person-centered strategies collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to address cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and environmental challenges following a traumatic brain injury.
Requirements
- Must possess Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a Special Education Degree or Rehabilitation Counseling.
- Requires two years of experience working with individuals who have traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, or cognitive impairments; or providing services to individuals with a history of substance abuse.
- Must have a Driver's License.
- Must be reliable, sociable, innovative, a team player, and well-organized.
