About the Role
The Property Accountant oversees full financial operations and reporting for a portfolio of retail properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency while providing strategic financial insights.
Responsibilities
- Manage financial operations and monthly reporting for assigned properties.
- Prepare, analyze, and review general ledger entries, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee accounts payable, cash management, and payment processing.
- Execute month-end and year-end closing entries.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Calculate and process client distributions in compliance with management agreements.
- Provide training and guidance on accounting principles and procedures to team members.
- Support audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
- Partner with leadership to enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation.
- Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
- Develop client relationships through accurate and insightful financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with management and leasing agreements.
- Provide financial guidance to property teams for operational decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to operate a passenger vehicle.
- Ability to travel to locations for on-site financial operations.
