About the Role

This leadership role reports to the Group CRO and directly to HMA/HIDAC CEOs and Boards, focusing on developing strategic risk management and ensuring top-class risk management across the Hamilton Group. Success requires proactive communication with stakeholders and compliance with regulatory environments, particularly the PRA and CBI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and raise awareness of an effective enterprise, emerging, and operational risk framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the ERM function.
  • Maintain and update risk registers for entities across the group, ensuring clear risk taxonomy and definitions.
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation and execution of the Internal Control Framework and Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process across the HGS platform.
  • Provide support and challenge to the business to maintain Hamilton’s control environment.
  • Articulate key risks to senior management and relevant governance forums, identifying areas for process/control improvement.
  • Support key operational initiatives including business continuity planning, disaster recovery, information security, and operational resilience.
  • Produce ERM reports for subsidiary Risk Committees, Boards, and other committees.
  • Administer the process for capturing loss events and near misses, investigating and documenting root causes of incidents and planned remedial actions.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Hamilton’s GRC system, focusing on the Risk & Compliance workspace.
  • Provide training to the business to support a strong risk culture.
  • Co-ordinate the production of annual ORSA reports.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a process for identifying, assessing, and monitoring emerging risks.
  • Act as an advocate and example of the Hamilton target culture, driving culture, values, and talent management.
  • Foster an environment of support and collaboration, providing guidance to the business.
  • Collaborate, influence, and build relationships at all levels, internally and externally, to enhance strategic success.
  • Manage the risk management function and monitor the effectiveness of the insurance undertaking’s risk management system.
  • Manage the entity risk function and report directly to the entity Board on risk management matters.
  • Ensure entities have an effective risk management framework compliant with local requirements and standards, including appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Produce entity-level annual ORSA and any ad hoc ORSAs.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place to identify, manage, and monitor risks, including emerging risks.
  • Promote a sound and effective risk management culture at all levels.
  • Facilitate the setting of risk appetite by entity Boards and ensure it is monitored.
  • Provide comprehensive and timely information on material risks to entity Boards, Risk Committees, and other committees.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices for compliance and innovation.
  • Responsibility for implementing the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process.
  • Responsibility for the calculation of the company’s capital requirement (with input from Finance).

Requirements

  • Experience in developing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments, particularly PRA and CBI.
  • Experience in managing risk registers and internal control frameworks.
  • Familiarity with business continuity planning, disaster recovery, information security, and operational resilience.
  • Experience in producing risk reports for governance bodies.
  • Experience with GRC systems.
  • Experience in coordinating ORSA reports.
  • Experience in identifying, assessing, and monitoring emerging risks.
  • Experience in fostering a strong risk culture.
