About the Role
This position is responsible for preparing sleeping rooms, bathrooms, and common areas for guests, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and safety on campus.
Responsibilities
- Interact with guests in a manner that presents Stony Point Center in a positive and hospitable way.
- Turnover and provide stayover service for rooms and bathrooms using approved products.
- Notify supervisor of time off needed 2 weeks in advance.
- Assist team members when needed and ask for help when appropriate.
- Label and deliver lost items to the front desk.
- Maintain cleanliness, hospitality amenities, and furnishings of sleeping units, public spaces, and offices.
- Identify and communicate needed repairs to the Retreat Center Manager.
- Enter and exit guest rooms with care, announcing presence before entering and checking door lock status upon leaving.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety rules and Stony Point Center practices.
- Perform tasks safely and efficiently without compromising quality.
- Assist in maintaining inventory records and ordering supplies and linens.
- Organize and store linens and supplies appropriately.
- Assist with room inspections and address deficiencies.
- Communicate room status to the housekeeping supervisor daily.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience as a housekeeper in the hospitality or commercial industries.
- Ability to interact with industry software for supply ordering and record maintenance.
- Comprehension of written language (Spanish or English).
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing guest needs and the hospitality environment.
- Ability to interact and communicate with individuals from different racial and ethnic backgrounds.
- High attention to detail.
- Able to work without direction.
- Ability to work well with others.
Skills
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish languages is helpful.
- Deep understanding and commitment to cultural and racial ethnic inclusiveness.
- Values diverse groups, ethnicities, genders, communities, cultural constituencies, and points of view.
- Ability to relate well to people from all walks of life and of varying theological perspectives.
- Ability to speak one or more languages other than English is very helpful.
