About the Role
Shrub Oak International School (SOIS) is a therapeutic day and residential school for autistic children, adolescents, and young adults with complex co-occurring conditions. Responsibilities
- Coordinate direct-care operations, ensuring DSP and 1:1 staff provide appropriate support to each student.
- Lead, mentor, and develop staff, including onboarding new employees and managing performance.
- Build respectful relationships with students, support their individual needs, and coach staff in managing challenging behaviors.
- Uphold policies, maintain accurate documentation, and complete administrative tasks such as shift logs, incident reports, and move-in/move-out support.
- Respond to crises and emergencies using SOIS protocols and report urgent situations according to policy.
- Ability to complete and maintain required TCIS and other training certifications, staying up to date with best practices.
- Transport students in a company vehicle to day to day activities as required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in human services or related field required; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in high-volume human services or customer-service roles, including work with neurodivergent adolescents and young adults, especially those with autism in residential or school settings.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to pass a DMV driving abstract screening preferred; the ability to transport students in a company vehicle may be required.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, developing, and scheduling staff; strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Required experience in crisis management, de-escalation, and handling aggressive or challenging behaviors; prior training in TCI/SCIP or similar techniques preferred.
- Direct experience assisting with hygiene and personal-care needs; EMT/EMS, CNA/HHA/PCA, therapeutic, or clinical background preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 preferred; experience conducting interviews is a plus; strong ability to coach staff and support professional growth.
- Must be able to ambulate around the campus, including hills, stairs, grass and gravel.
- Must be able to react and move quickly during student crisis, both for the safety of the student and for the staff.
- Must be able to run across the campus and throughout the school to catch/monitor an eloping student, and/or to remove yourself from an unsafe situation.
- Must be able to pass TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training for Schools).
- Must be able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, crouch or kneel for sustained periods of time if implementing a hold.

- Relationship-building skills with students, families, and staff.

- $70,000 - $80,000 yearly
