About the Role
Cancer Research UK is seeking a motivated retail assistant to act as an ambassador for the charity and take responsibility for the shop on Sundays. The role involves supporting volunteers, achieving sales and fundraising targets, processing donations, generating income, and ensuring excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the running of the shop on a Sunday.
- Taking keyholder responsibility (training provided).
- Supporting a talented and diverse team of volunteers.
- Assisting the wider shop team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.
- Reviewing and processing donated goods and new stock.
- Coming up with creative ideas to help generate new income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.
- Using customer service skills to ensure customers and supporters feel welcome and appreciated.
- Maintaining shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance and health and safety.
- Performing manual handling and physical activity as required.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Working knowledge of what makes great customer service.
- Experience of working in a lively and vibrant environment.
- Adaptability in changing situations.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Commercial awareness.
- Ability to create relationships and communicate well.
- Flexibility to work on a rota basis.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Satisfactory basic DBS check required.
