About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the backend systems powering the control and management plane of a cloud-native data protection platform. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering, ownership of backend components, and collaboration to deliver reliable production systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services supporting core platform capabilities like control planes, user-access management, and backup workflows.
• Take ownership of features or components from implementation through production operation and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to service design and API development, balancing correctness, scalability, cost, and maintainability.
• Write and review production-quality code.
• Diagnose and resolve complex backend issues.
• Participate in on-call and operational responsibilities.
• Collaborate with Product, quality assurance, customer-facing, and other teams to clarify requirements and ensure production readiness.
• Reinforce best practices and strengthen backend platform reliability and scalability through code quality, design contributions, and mentorship.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of features or components from implementation through production operation.
• Experience building and operating non-trivial production systems, including diagnosing issues and improving implementations based on real-world behavior.
• Ability to translate loosely defined requirements into correct, maintainable technical solutions and make sound trade-offs under uncertainty.
• Highly collaborative and self-driven, with a strong sense of shared ownership.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams, fostering open communication and alignment across time zones.
