About the Role

The IFSH researches the conditions for peace and security globally, regionally, and locally. We analyze complex challenges in peace and security policy from various perspectives, combining fundamental research with analysis of current events and offering practical recommendations. This role supports the project 'Strengthening Norms Against Chemical and Biological Weapons: The CBW Competence Network' in Berlin.

Responsibilities

Perform simple organizational tasks (mail, archiving, cash management, copying).
Assist in organizing public and confidential events for the competence network.
Provide organizational support for the project's newsletter and website.
Format and edit scientific texts.
Assist with research on chemical and biological weapons control topics.

Requirements

Currently enrolled as a student at a state-recognized German university.
Proficient in all standard MS Office applications.
Excellent command of German and English languages.
Ability to work independently and responsibly.
Team player.
Quick learner with conscientiousness and a meticulous work ethic.
Basic knowledge of peace research and arms control through studies, internships, or work experience (including student or research assistant roles) is advantageous.

The project 'Strengthening Norms Against Chemical and Biological Weapons: The CBW Competence Network' is funded by the BMFTR and conducted jointly by IFSH, the Professorship for Public Law and International Law at Justus Liebig University Giessen, the Leibniz Institute Hessian Foundation for Peace and Conflict Research (HSFK), and the Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Centre for Science and Peace Research (ZNF) at the University of Hamburg.
The project investigates how to strengthen norms against chemical and biological weapons within multilateral treaty regimes.
