About the Role
Support the maintenance and general upkeep of world-class playing surfaces and amenity landscapes at the Hale End Academy.
Responsibilities
- Maintain playing surfaces and amenity landscapes.
- Carry out daily activities using handheld and ride-on cutting equipment, strimming, operating sprinklers, digging borders, spreading composts, sweeping hard standing areas, pruning shrubs, disposing of leaves and cuttings, and hand weeding sensitive areas.
- Perform tractor and trailer work and use machinery for grass area renovation, including turf cutters, stone buriers, scarifiers, and seeders.
- Assist in grounds renovation, pitch marking, fertilizer application, and plant watering.
- Support the team with manual tasks, including handling bags of sand, fertilizer, and seed (20-25kg).
- Clean equipment stores and washdown areas to ensure an impeccable working environment.
Requirements
- Hold NVQ level 2 or above in green keeping and groundsmanship or equivalent.
- Experience using a wide range of turf equipment such as cylinder mowers, ride-on mowers, scarification equipment, renovation equipment, hedge cutters, and strimmers.
- Background in all aspects of grounds keeping, including playing surfaces and amenity landscapes.
- Ability to collaborate with the wider team and work independently.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation related to equipment and machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Possess a clean UK driving licence.
