About the Role
Contribute to the build-and-prove layer of Mimecast P&E's AI Native Engineering function, making AI-native and agentic ways of working the fast, safe, default path for product pillars and service owners across the R&D organization. This role involves working across tooling, enablement, and architecture to build reusable patterns, construct agentic system prototypes, evolve visibility, and engage directly with teams to remove friction.
Responsibilities
- Build and iterate on reusable tooling and automation that accelerates AI-Native development practices.
- Develop and iterate on agentic system prototypes demonstrating practical, production-viable patterns.
- Evolve internal visibility and measurement systems for engineering leadership.
- Collaborate with teams to surface emerging challenges, bottlenecks, and opportunities.
- Contribute to reusable, well-documented paved roads focusing on architecture and security alignment.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, examples, and hands-on support.
- Surface observations and insights to inform the function's strategic direction and priorities.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on software engineering skills with demonstrated ability to ship production-quality tooling, automation, and integrations (e.g., Python, TypeScript, or equivalent).
- Solid DevOps and platform engineering fluency, comfortable with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and modern delivery toolchains.
- Working knowledge of secure development practices and ability to integrate security considerations.
- Full-spectrum engineering background spanning multiple disciplines (e.g., QA, tooling, platform, application development).
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, comfortable communicating technical work clearly and collaborating with engineers across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work with increasing autonomy, prioritize across competing demands, and drive initiatives forward without close direction.
- Evidence of initiative and impact beyond immediate team responsibilities.
- Solid engineering experience at the mid-to-senior level with evidence of growing scope and initiative.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts including prompt engineering, model evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent orchestration frameworks is valuable but can be developed in-role.
- Prior experience in a developer enablement, developer experience, internal tools, or platform engineering function preferred.
- Experience contributing to internal tooling, shared engineering infrastructure, or developer-facing platforms is a plus.
- An offer of employment will be subject to successful completion of applicable background checks.
