About the Role
We are looking for backend engineers to build the core systems behind BJAK's AI Neobank app. This role is for engineers who can build reliable APIs, workflows, and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets, partners, and millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
- Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel, and financial services.
- Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications, and operations.
- Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.
- Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and other partners.
- Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance.
- Build systems that are practical, auditable, and ready for regulated financial products.
Requirements
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging.
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
- Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases.
- Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk.
- Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations, and business teams.
- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or regulated products is a strong advantage.
- Builds systems that work in the real world, not just on diagrams.
- Thinks through edge cases, failure modes, and operational impact.
- Can move fast without creating fragile foundations.
- Takes ownership of production issues and long-term reliability.
- Explains clearly what they personally built versus what the team delivered.
- Engineers who only want isolated backend tasks.
- People who ignore security, data consistency, monitoring, or operational risk.
