About the Role
Provide excellent customer service as the first contact for patients, providers, and staff accessing virtual and/or non-virtual ambulatory clinics. May orient patients to the virtual visit process. Expedite outpatient check-in and check-out processes by reviewing appointment status, collecting pre-visit payments, and communicating with clinic liaisons. Secure financial integrity by verifying benefits and obtaining referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient registration procedures.
- Ensure patients are oriented to the virtual visit process and have necessary technology.
- Provide and ensure completion of all necessary patient forms.
- Communicate with patients, staff, and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and clinic processes.
- Alert clinic staff and providers of any changes or discrepancies in patient's scheduled appointment.
- Refer patients with inadequate funding to the financial counselor.
- Update appointment status daily to reflect arrived, cancelled, no-show, or rescheduled status.
- Maintain an organized filing system of current referrals and communicate missed appointments to PCP.
- Review new referrals with the provider of the day and coordinate scheduling.
- Assist licensed staff with non-financial aspects of inpatient admission process.
- Perform closing procedures, including reconciling fee receipts and balancing credit card machines.
- Manage insurance authorization, cash collection, and deposits.
- Handle charge entry, billing, and reconciliation.
- Provide customer service and communication.
- Manage Flowmaster and Room Management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of experience in customer service or 2 years of clerical, medical office, or business experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Successful candidates will undergo respiratory fit testing.
