About the Role
Axel Springer Tech is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the OTT Live team. This role involves building and maintaining core services for live streaming, focusing on high-availability solutions for live events, FAST channels, and server-side ad insertion. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with significant experience in DevOps, agile methodologies, and multiple programming languages.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate production services end-to-end within an agile, self-managed, product-focused team.
- Develop and evolve new services within the microservice ecosystem, ensuring they are observable, resilient, and horizontally scalable.
- Improve quality by writing lean, well-tested code (unit, integration, acceptance) and applying BDD where valuable.
- Automate infrastructure and delivery using GitOps and CI/CD to increase speed with appropriate guardrails.
- Maintain production health by instrumenting metrics, logs, and traces, and by using incidents as learning opportunities.
Requirements
- Significant professional experience in delivering software to production.
- Deep expertise in one or two areas such as backend, data, observability, or cloud, with the ability to connect dots across the stack.
- Hands-on experience across the full lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, testing, and operations.
- Experience in at least two of the following: Agile / Lean, BDD, DevOps / GitOps, multiple programming languages, or Flutter / UI development.
- A pragmatic mindset enabling fast learning and the selection of the right tool for the job.
