About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Payroll Manager to lead and support our payroll function. This pivotal role sits at the intersection of Finance and People & Culture, allowing you to drive system efficiencies, champion continuous process improvement, and lead a blended local and offshore payroll team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the payroll processing lifecycle for Australia, New Zealand, UK, Singapore, and the Middle East.
  • Manage and optimize payroll processing using Employment Hero, ensuring all controls, user guides, and procedures are up to date.
  • Lead award interpretation (including Professional Employees, Clerks, Manufacturing, and Miscellaneous Awards), NES compliance, Pay Day Superannuation, and state-based Long Service Leave Acts.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead a payroll team (including local and offshore resources), ensuring robust succession planning and a high standard of service.
  • Manage end-of-month procedures, balancing and uploading journals, clearinghouse uploads, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, FBT, and PAYG lodgements.
  • Identify and implement payroll system efficiencies, establishing strong quality control checks to minimize errors.

Requirements

  • Strong, hands-on experience with the Employment Hero payroll system is preferred, however open to other HRIS experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a strong background in end-to-end multi-currency or regional payroll processing.
  • Deep understanding of Australian National Employment Standards (NES), Award Interpretation, and state/territory LSL Acts.
  • Prior experience handling salary sacrifice arrangements (novated leases, super), leave purchase plans, Living Away From Home Allowances (LAFHA), and Project Allowances/On-Call rostering.
  • An adaptable professional who is eager to learn, handle confidential information with absolute discretion, and solve complex problems.
