About the Role

Performs setup on and operates a variety of manually operated OD (outside diameter) grinding machinery. Collaborates with colleagues to maximize productivity in the precision manufacturing of the highest quality valves & actuators for aerospace and power generation customers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate precision cylindrical and surface grinding machines.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, shop travelers, and operation sketches for machined and/or fabricated parts.
  • Make tooling and fixtures in addition to working on production parts.
  • Inspect parts to specifications and document results.
  • Install fixtures and set work offsets.
  • Accurately and efficiently diagnose deviations and trends; adjust offsets to maintain quality product based on the analysis.
  • Report machinery, tooling or quality issues to supervisor.
  • Run multiple machine centers as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization.
  • Related experience in the set-up and operation of manual machinery.
  • Capable of working to tight tolerances (2 ten-thousandths to 20 millionths) from complex drawings containing GD&T.
  • Ability to perform accurate manual inspections of parts produced.
  • Must be detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and able to stay focused on task.
  • Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed.
  • May require frequent walking primarily on a level surface.
  • Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to move materials throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques required.
  • May include lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • May include frequent pulling, pushing, and grasping.
  • Use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and proper footwear may be required in certain areas.

Salary/Compensations

  • $26 - $44 per hour

Benefits

  • Time and a half for hours over 8 in a day and 40 in a week (1st Shift)
  • Time and a half for hours over 10 in a day, and 40 in a week (2nd Shift)
  • $2 an hour shift premium (2nd Shift)
