About the Role

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Principal Architect - Data Centers to lead studio business operations, oversee growth, financial performance, and team health. This role involves contributing to annual business planning, leading cross-market strategic initiatives, and managing client relationships through all project phases.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staffing assignments and build project teams for design excellence and project management.
• Achieve annual revenue targets by bringing in new clients and revenue.
• Maintain overall responsibility for project team performance, including design, delivery, and resource management.
• Collaborate with market leaders to set strategic direction for design practice studios.
• Oversee the implementation of a consistent Rhythm-of-Business within the studio.
• Ensure design work aligns with project budgets and client goals.
• Lead the development and implementation of firm-wide strategic initiatives and annual business planning.
• Oversee cross-market collaboration for regional design practices and project team integration.
• Review and mitigate internal and external risks.
• Lead the development of project proposals, RFP responses, and business development initiatives.
• Develop and manage the annual studio operational budget.
• Manage client relationships and identify growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with market leadership on new work acceptance and strategic pursuits.
• Participate in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
• Review individual team member performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Oversee annual goal setting and performance reviews.
• Collaborate with leaders and strategic partners across the firm for continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance and constructive feedback to internal team members.
• Oversee regional practice integration and facilitate cross-market collaboration.
• Serve as a subject-matter-expert and firm-wide resource.
• Oversee the implementation of tactical execution strategies.
• Navigate conflict, implement change, and facilitate difficult conversations.
• Engage in the development and implementation of internal Learning and Development resources.
• Ensure consistent deliverable quality, client services, and financial performance.
• Make strategic decisions regarding staffing, business operations, and resource management.
• Prioritize internal initiatives and billable work while balancing team needs.
• Ensure a safe, comfortable, and equitable work environment for all staff.
• Engage in external community activities and philanthropic events.
• Contribute to decision-making regarding staffing changes, promotions, and team building.
• Invest in the growth and professional development of individuals and project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm.
• Certification as a licensed professional preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading large-scale business operations and studio wide financial management.
• Proven ability to effectively lead diverse studio groups and implement strategic planning.
• Previous experience leading the development and implementation of large-scale strategic initiatives.
• Proven experience leading business development efforts, including pursuing growth opportunities, and contributing to proposals, RFP responses, and statements of qualifications.
• Effective communication skills and ability to foster collaborative team environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage staffing resources across internal markets and multiple teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Previous involvement in future state organizational planning.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate conflict and manage through change.
