About the Role

The Retail Team Manager role is critical in managing all sales and executional functions within an assigned geography, including retail sales, account management, and wholesaler sales. This player/coach role involves managing a team that sells and services products in retail stores, focusing on new item distribution, promotion execution, merchandising, product freshness, and developing strategic business plans.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides direction to all assigned team members in support of Company and Regional business objectives.
  • Develops and executes effective business plans at assigned accounts.
  • Oversees and manages appropriate routing and call coverage of team members to ensure proper execution of distribution and merchandising objectives.
  • Analyzes business building opportunities and develops executional plans for the geography to accomplish company, region, and district goals.
  • Manages team to develop strategic business plans that grow operating profits and revenue year-over-year with the assigned customer group, focusing on distribution, merchandising execution, growth opportunities, and category management.
  • Communicates goals clearly and provides visibility to performance against goals.
  • Assesses and evaluates business results of all customers and recommends change strategies.
  • Translates national and regional policies, procedures, and operating strategies to the team.
  • Manages operational data collection from the team for timely reporting of retail and account metrics.
  • Provides ongoing development feedback and support to the team.
  • Collaborates effectively with BDM and SAM/KAM to ensure alignment of executional objectives.
  • Strives for operational excellence with efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Collaborates and engages with Talent Acquisition in the recruitment process for new TSMs.
  • Develops and ensures alignment of personalized development plans for direct reports.
  • Provides ongoing coaching to support team development.
  • Communicates consistently with the team, cross-functional partners, and customers.
  • Creates a culture that fosters cooperation, credibility, candor, consistency, integrity, and commitment to exceptional performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of retail sales, wholesale grocery or route sales required.
  • Strong planning, organizational, leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills in service of understanding complex data to develop actionable initiatives to address business opportunities required.
  • Fluent in English
