About the Role
The Credit Analyst will support the business unit by reviewing credit information for commercial clients and analyzing complex financial data to assist in making credit decisions and manage processes. The role focuses on new loan underwriting and loan portfolio management for a growing commercial lender.
Responsibilities
- Review new loan requests from lending partners, brokers, and direct clients, focusing on large, complex institutional-calibre transactions.
- Review, input, and analyze financial statements and rent rolls to prepare cash flow and underwriting value estimates.
- Write and prepare approval memorandums for the Bank’s executive loan committee.
- Prepare quarterly and annual credit reviews, collating and analyzing complex financial and non-financial data on existing clients and the loan portfolio.
- Work with senior members of the lending team in day-to-day portfolio management, including amendments, renewals, and refinances.
- Prepare ad hoc reporting and presentations as required.
- Conduct due diligence investigations for prospective transactions, including analyzing loan investment memorandums and financial statements.
- Interpret findings and prepare various reports for the lending team to present to senior management for approval.
- Prepare and deliver written and oral credit presentations.
- Prepare spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and monitor the financial position of established accounts, bringing irregularities to higher-level associates.
- Prepare report evaluations, ensuring compliance with organizational regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain documentation files and monitor compliance with loan/account terms.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of working experience with a commercial real estate lender or investment firm.
- Ability to interpret and create rent rolls, operating statements, and financial projections.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate investment industry (markets, players, and terminology).
- Knowledge of real estate lending concepts, practices, and procedures of credit analysis.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Ability to be decisive, proactive, and a team player.
