About the Role
The Senior Manager, Strategic Accounts is responsible for managing and growing a defined portfolio of national accounts, financial institution partners, digital platforms, and industry organizations within the life insurance and annuities business. This role serves as the strategic relationship lead, driving revenue growth, client satisfaction, and execution of strategic account plans. The Senior Manager partners with the Vice President, Head of Strategic Accounts and cross-functional leaders to develop and execute high-impact distribution strategies. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong relationship management, business development, and organizational leadership capabilities, offering opportunities to mentor others and influence enterprise initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategic account plans that support enterprise growth objectives and maximize partner engagement.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned national accounts, financial institutions, digital platforms, and trade organizations.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key stakeholders, decision makers, and centers of influence.
- Drive revenue growth, retention, and account expansion through proactive planning, business development initiatives, and partnership with internal sales teams.
- Lead regular business reviews, strategic planning discussions, and client engagements to strengthen partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with wholesaler teams to align account priorities with field execution and sales strategies.
- Support enterprise distribution initiatives and contribute to broader strategic account planning efforts.
- Identify emerging distribution opportunities, industry trends, and competitive developments that impact strategic partners and the broader market.
- Utilize partner insights and market intelligence to influence strategic recommendations, product positioning, and business priorities.
- Evaluate account performance metrics and growth opportunities to support revenue forecasting and business planning.
- Leverage data to provide insights that support enterprise growth goals.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams to execute coordinated account strategies.
- Advocate for partner needs and help align organizational resources to support key initiatives and business objectives.
- Support development and execution of marketing programs, client events, educational initiatives, and engagement strategies that enhance depth brand positioning.
- Drive collaboration and accountability across internal stakeholders to ensure successful execution of partner priorities.
- Maintain a high standard of client satisfaction through proactive relationship management, issue resolution, and service oversight.
- Coordinate internal resources to ensure timely, consistent, and effective support for strategic partners.
- Anticipate partner needs and develop solutions that strengthen relationships and improve business outcomes.
- Lead complex issue resolution efforts with professionalism, sound judgment, and executive presence.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory, compliance, and operational requirements impacting life insurance and annuity distribution.
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure activities, agreements, and communications are executed in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support governance processes, partner due diligence, reporting, and risk management activities associated with strategic account relationships.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to colleagues and cross-functional partners.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and scaling of Strategic Accounts capabilities, processes, and best practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in life insurance, annuity distribution, national account management, institutional distribution, or financial institution relationship management.
- Demonstrated success managing and growing complex strategic partnerships and distribution relationships.
- Experience working with broker-dealers, banks, RIAs, insurance marketing organizations, digital platforms, or other institutional channels preferred.
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships with executive-level stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products, distribution models, and partner economics.
- Experience driving revenue growth, business development initiatives, and strategic account expansion.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel as business needs require.
