About the Role
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific store area and general store operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. This role involves opening and closing the store, supervising associates, and maintaining a positive shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and a clean workspace. Area Supervisors also execute and oversee company operational processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe and secure environments by practicing safe behaviors and promptly addressing unsafe conditions.
- Ensure building security, including entrance/exit control and cash office security.
- Provide excellent customer service with courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the company brand, ensuring professional appearance and adherence to dress code.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandise presentation standards.
- Oversee recovery, sizing, markdowns, and merchandise processing.
- Manage merchandise truck receiving and stockroom organization.
- Ensure compliance with presentation guidelines and manage floor moves and signing.
- Implement loss prevention strategies through customer engagement and heightened awareness.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system and conduct package inspections.
- Supervise and operate the front end, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards.
- Train and coach associates on cash register operations, shortage control, and front-end procedures.
- Manage associate break schedules and ensure proper functioning of front-end equipment and supplies.
- Expedite go-backs, ensuring proper scanning, tagging, and security.
- Ensure the salability of merchandise on the front end and featured displays.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms and audit garment tags.
- Ensure go-back compliance in fitting rooms, with proper merchandise handling.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned, including cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.
- Adhere to policies regarding refunds, associate purchases, till security, and register transactions.
- Ensure compliance with associate scheduling and process payroll transmissions.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.
