About the Role

The Customer Load Management (CLM) Trader will work in various distinct areas including short-term load forecasting, energy bidding/transacting, energy reconciliation, long-term forecasting, load research, load evaluations, Capacity/UCAP forecasting, ICAP/UCAP bidding/transacting, energy and capacity reconciliation, and market and customer load related analytics. The CLM Trader performs, assists, and/or supports critical functions for the success of the group and its stakeholders. The role requires a strong command of Excel, including experience with formulas, pivot tables/charts, and managing large datasets. Understanding customer tariffs and contracts is essential for forecasting demand, energy, capacity, and coincident peak loads, as well as production sales delivery and NYISO-related bids and bilateral transactions. The CLM Trader manages all energy and capacity transactions within the NYISO marketplace and serves as the authoritative source for supply-customer load and capacity data. They also manage and perform all customer load related reporting needs and are considered the subject matter expert on wholesale market and retail customer load forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily functions required by NYISO as an LSE, Power Supplier, Transmission Customer & Market Participant.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust bids/schedules and forecasts to ensure adherence to strategy, fuel management constraints, contractual obligations & appropriate governance.
  • Review and analyze market conditions to develop & submit bids for all NYPA assets/portfolios on an hourly/daily/forward basis.
  • Manage NYPA trading tools to reduce NYPA exposure to market volatility.
  • Stay current with NYISO procedures, market issues, and reports.

Requirements

  • Strong command of Excel with experience using and building formulas, pivot tables/charts, and managing large datasets.
  • Understanding of customer tariffs and contracts for developing comprehensive, dynamic, and static forecasts of demand, energy, capacity and coincident peak loads, as well as production sales delivery and NYISO-related bids and bilateral transactions.
  • Ability to manage all energy and capacity transactions within the NYISO marketplace.
  • Ability to manage and perform all customer load related reporting needs.
  • Familiar with Wholesale Electricity Market, Fuel Markets and/or associated Financial products.
  • Basic business, statistical, financial, analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Able to adapt, multitask and work under pressure.

Salary/Compensations

  • $99,000 - $124,000
