About the Role
The RN Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the nursing department and facility, organizing and maintaining staffing guidelines to meet resident needs. Relief Supervisors function as floor nurses and are designated as backups to the RN Supervisor, potentially supervising as needed during their shift.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process in the care of designated Residents.
- Administers medications & treatments to residents.
- Documents resident care appropriately on assigned nursing unit.
- Reports findings of ongoing observations/assessments to the designated Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, &/or Unit Manager.
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic test/lab collection values.
- Delivers direct resident care consistent with policies/procedures & Resident Bill of Rights.
- Identifies and responds timely to patient concerns/needs.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills to ensure appropriate quality patient care.
- Prepares resident assignments considering patient needs and personnel competency.
- Monitors and evaluates the flow of activity and delivery of patient care.
- Assures documentation records (ADLs, meal intake, etc.) are completed for CNAs.
- Is punctual and/or provides proper notification for lateness or absenteeism.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Licensed & registered in good standing in New York State as an RN.
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, & disabled.
- Possess a spirit of cooperation & enthusiasm to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation & growth.
- Knowledge of medical, social, & psychological needs of residents, general nursing theory & practice, & infection prevention principles/methods.
- Ability to communicate well verbally with residents, families, & staff.
- Covid-19 vaccinations are encouraged but NOT MANDATED.
