About the Role
The Subscriptions R&D team focuses on the entire user journey on Spotify, aiming to engage users innovatively and grow the audience by finding future listeners globally and delivering timely value. This collaborative environment includes research, product development, design, engineering, and marketing to create meaningful features for millions, fostering long-lasting user relationships.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve mobile experiences across visible consumer surfaces.
- Contribute to the architecture and development of reusable mobile foundations, frameworks, and platform capabilities.
- Support and develop technical initiatives to improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape product direction and technical strategy.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and drive quality through testing, observability, and operational excellence.
- Participate in experimentation and prototyping for future content and listening experiences.
- Explore modern engineering workflows, including AI-assisted development and emerging mobile technologies.
- Balance short-term product needs with long-term platform sustainability and technical health.
- Contribute to Spotify's engineering culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and curiosity.
Requirements
- Experience developing iOS applications using Swift.
- Awareness of building maintainable, scalable, reusable, and well-tested software systems.
- Experience collaborating with engineers and cross-disciplinary colleagues.
- Demonstrated care for code quality, testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability.
- Curiosity, ownership, and willingness to step outside immediate areas of expertise.
- Curiosity about modern development tooling, including AI-assisted coding solutions.
- Growth mindset with a continuous drive to learn and improve systems, products, and team practices.
- Familiarity with SQL, analytics systems, or data engineering concepts is a plus.
