About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Removal Defense Immigration Attorney with strong experience representing noncitizens in immigration court. This is a litigation-heavy role, ideal for someone who thrives in court and wants to build on a solid foundation of removal defense and family-based immigration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before EOIR, including master calendar and individual hearings.
  • Prepare and file motions, applications for relief, and legal briefs (including cancellation of removal, asylum, withholding, CAT, and waivers).
  • Handle appeals to the BIA and, if qualified, to federal courts.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients facing deportation and complex legal challenges.
  • Manage filings and appearances with USCIS, EOIR, ICE, and the BIA.
  • Collaborate with intake, paralegals, and fellow attorneys to develop strategies and ensure timely filings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience practicing immigration law, with substantial courtroom experience.
  • Demonstrated success handling master and individual hearings, particularly in asylum, cancellation of removal, and waivers.
  • Strong legal writing skills and the ability to think on your feet in high-stakes situations.
  • Knowledge of family-based immigration matters such as I-130s, adjustment of status, and consular processing.
  • BIA and federal court experience a plus.
  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state; New York Bar preferred.
  • Successfully handled master calendar hearings, individual hearings, motions to reopen and terminate, and BIA appeals.
