About the Role

We are hiring the founding lead for data products and platform. This senior, hands-on builder will own how the firm defines, governs, and ships its core investment data, and will grow a small team. You will sit at the center of a federated model, turning existing energy into trusted, shared, and governed data products.

Responsibilities

• Establish the firm's first real intake, prioritization, and roadmap for data work.
• Reconcile divergent data definitions into a single set of canonical, documented entities.
• Own the data-product lifecycle, turning recurring needs into governed shared products.
• Drive adoption of the shared data layer.
• Build and ship production dbt models in Python and SQL, and design serving and semantic layers.
• Harden the platform with alerting, workload isolation, and secure ingestion.
• Partner on market data and internal reporting builds, and data consolidation.
• Build and lead a small, senior data team, mentoring engineers and analysts.
• Establish the operating model for the central data team.
• Serve as the firm's senior voice on data, translating between business, compliance, and engineering.

Requirements

• 8+ years in data, with a blend of hands-on data engineering and data-product ownership.
• Deep buy-side / asset-management data domain knowledge.
• Expert SQL and Python; production experience with Snowflake and dbt (or close equivalents).
• Demonstrated ownership of a canonical data model or data standards across multiple consuming teams.
• A track record of building and leading a small data team, or clear readiness to do so.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• ETF / 1940-Act fund experience.
• Familiarity with SEC recordkeeping (Rule 204-2), Regulation S-P, 15(c) board reporting, and Tailored Shareholder Reports.
• Modern-stack depth: data catalog, orchestration, managed ingestion, BI, Snowflake Cortex and semantic views.
• Hands-on with AI-assisted engineering and building self-serve layers over governed data.
• AWS and Terraform / infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Experience standing up data governance in a regulated environment.
