About the Role
Swish Analytics is seeking an NFL Data Scientist to develop and enhance machine learning and statistical models that power the company's sports betting products. This role offers significant ownership and impact on core data product components.
Responsibilities
- Ideate, develop, and improve machine learning and statistical models for sports betting products.
- Develop contextualized feature sets using sports domain knowledge.
- Contribute to all stages of model development, including proof-of-concepts, beta testing, and deployment.
- Partner with data engineering and product teams for model deployment.
- Continuously improve model performance through experimentation.
- Analyze results to assess model performance and identify weaknesses.
- Adhere to software engineering best practices and contribute to shared code repositories.
- Document modeling work and present findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience developing models at production scale for NFL, CFB, or sports betting.
- 5+ years of experience developing and delivering machine learning and/or statistical models for sports or sports betting business needs.
- Expertise in Probability Theory, Machine Learning, Inferential Statistics, Bayesian Statistics, and Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods.
- Experience with relational SQL and Python.
- Experience with source control tools like GitHub and CI/CD processes.
- Experience working in AWS environments.
- Proven track record of strong leadership skills and ability to partner with teams to solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
