About the Role
Cross Creek Hospital in Austin, TX is seeking a Nurse Manager to join their nursing leadership team. The hospital provides mental health services for adolescents, adults, and seniors, treating conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and co-occurring substance use disorders. This role assists the DON/CNO in directing and supervising nursing operations for assigned units, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of behavioral health and nursing services.
Responsibilities
- Anticipates and effectively manages changes in census and acuity, allocating nursing resources based on patient acuity and care needs.
- Role models customer service expectations and demonstrates urgency regarding patient safety.
- Accountable for the standard of care, providing consultations and expertise in patient care delivery.
- Serves as a clinical and service resource to nursing and other assigned staff.
- Manages staff activities, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines.
- Manages and evaluates work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, service, or maintenance staff for the unit, work group, and other facility staff as directed.
- Analyzes information and situations to choose the best solutions to solve problems.
- Responsible for recruitment, hiring, and training of new staff.
- Identifies the educational needs of others and develops educational or training programs.
- Assists with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility.
- Prepares reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services, and quality initiatives of the unit.
- Performs administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures.
- Provides direct care as needed.
- Performs other functions and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Current registered nursing license in State of facility required
- Two years of registered nursing experience required
- One year of prior experience with the population required
- One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility)
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Experience Level
- One year of prior experience with the population (inpatient Behavioral Health) required
- One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required
- Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred
- Two years of registered nursing experience required
- Two years of prior experience as a registered nursing with patient population of the facility is preferred.
- Prior experience as a house supervisor strongly preferred
Education Level
- BSN or higher strongly preferred
- BSN or higher strongly preferred
