About the Role

Performs a variety of technical radiographic procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Also performs clerical duties, EKGs, and phlebotomy functions, adapting care to the age-specific needs of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Fosters patient and family-centered care aligned with organizational values.

Responsibilities

• Follows Urgent Care Centers workflow protocols to maximize quality and efficiency.
• Works effectively and respectfully at highest capabilities and training.
• Protects and preserves patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Meets, greets, answers questions, and explains radiologic examinations, EKGs, and phlebotomy tests to patients.
• Provides for patient safety and comfort.
• Answers phones and performs registration and checkout duties.
• Rooms patients and ensures exam rooms are cleaned and set up appropriately.
• Schedules patients for radiologic examinations efficiently.
• Places orders and tracks exams with accuracy, consistency, and promptness.
• Performs required patient identification procedures.
• Performs radiographic exams with understanding of equipment, positioning, physiology, and technical factors.
• Transfers images to PACS for physician review.
• Scans documents into applicable systems for archiving and retrieval.
• Follows protocols for applicable software usage and understands downtime processes.
• Performs required quality control procedures and ensures equipment is performing as expected.
• Reports unit issues to Manager Medical Imaging.
• Performs EKG tracings, ensuring proper labeling and inclusion in the patient's medical record.
• Maintains orderliness, cleanliness, and adequate supplies for the assigned area.
• Provides coverage for the department as required, including weekends and holidays, demonstrating flexibility with shifts and locations.
• Participates in the training and instruction of new Urgent Care Radiology Techs.
• Maintains quality assurance, safety regulations, environmental, and infection control.
• Manages time effectively, filling slow periods with preparatory activities.
• Minimizes non-productive time.
• Conforms to departmental guidelines and standards for attire and personal appearance.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
• Current license to work in the State of Rhode Island.
• Current ARRT certification.
• Basic life support certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout Brown University Health, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
