About the Role

The Dental Equipment Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on dental equipment across multiple dental offices, ensuring all clinical equipment operates safely and efficiently. This role requires a mechanically inclined, customer-focused individual who can work independently and support multiple practice locations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and commission new dental equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software-related equipment issues.
  • Repair dental equipment in a timely manner while minimizing disruption to patient care.
  • Calibrate equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain service logs, maintenance records, and repair documentation.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and communicate with equipment manufacturers and vendors.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of replacement parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Train clinical staff on proper equipment operation and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, radiation safety, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Respond to urgent equipment failures and provide emergency service as needed.
  • Travel between dental offices throughout the Austin market and surrounding areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with dental chairs, compressors, vacuum systems, sterilizers, imaging equipment, and digital radiography is required.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple service requests and work independently.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
