About the Role
Hippo is seeking a Corporate Paralegal to support its mission of making homeownership effortless. This role is crucial for maintaining corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations within a technology-driven insurance company.
Responsibilities
- Manage the tracking, organizing, and filing of contracts, legal documents, and correspondence.
- Assist with corporate governance matters, including preparing meeting agendas, minutes, maintaining records, and supporting board activities.
- Provide administrative support, including opening and coordinating mail.
- Serve as backup for the compliance team, ensuring timely data reporting and communications with regulatory authorities.
- Send complaints to program and claims administrators as needed.
- Receive, input, and send out lawsuits and subpoenas to appropriate program or claims administrators.
- Maintain the service of process log.
- Independently draft and file insurance holding company filings (e.g., Form Bs, Ds).
- Maintain insurance company officers and director biographies as required by regulatory authorities.
- Complete applications and respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities regarding the application and renewal of insurance company entities.
- Perform basic legal research, writing, and analysis.
- Exercise independent judgment and effectively prioritize work.
- Exemplify collegiality, efficiency, proactivity, and curiosity.
- Utilize strong written and oral communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a related and relevant area within an insurance company (P&C preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of holding company, corporate governance principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new technologies and platforms.
