About the Role
The Assistant Center Director supports the Center Director in the overall operation of the Center, ensuring compliance with company and state licensing standards and operating procedures. This role involves managing daily operations, staff supervision, fiscal responsibilities, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
Responsibilities
- Operate the Center in the absence of the Center Director.
- Ensure the Center operates in accordance with company and state licensing standards and procedures.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Manage the Center in compliance with all state and local regulations and Way to Grow Child Care Center policies and procedures.
- Resolve problems related to Center management or seek appropriate assistance.
- Maintain administrative records for the Center.
- Maintain appropriate and required records on children.
- Plan work schedules, supervise staff, assist in lesson planning, and evaluate staff performance.
- Stay informed of all activities within the Center.
- Prepare and forward reports and forms according to Way to Grow Child Care Center policies and procedures.
- Represent the interests of Way To Grow Child Care Center.
- Maintain an accurate financial accounting of the Center operation and protect company assets.
- Assist in planning an annual budget and manage the operational budget.
- Ensure classroom equipment is maintained in good repair and request replacements or contracts for repairs.
- Prepare and forward required reports, such as weekly statistics.
- Take responsibility for company assets and cash and make daily deposits.
- Ensure accurate and timely collection of accounts receivable.
- Make necessary purchases for Center operations while maximizing profit.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff to maintain proper staff/child ratios.
- Ensure staff understand their job descriptions, company policies, and orientation materials.
- Maintain personnel records and ensure confidentiality.
- Maintain a current substitute list.
- Ensure up-to-date records of each child are maintained.
- Prepare and forward all personnel records and forms to the Area Manager/corporate office.
- Coach, counsel, and conduct performance reviews for staff.
- Conduct interviews of parents and children before enrollment.
- Ensure parents of enrolled children complete all necessary forms and plan parent orientations.
- Be available to parents to address concerns.
- Keep parents informed of their child's progress and Center activities.
- Track inquiries, conduct tours, and convert tours into enrollments.
- Maintain effective communication between Center staff and parents.
- Conduct parent meetings and conferences.
- Support teachers in ensuring goal assessment cards are completed and communicated to parents.
- Solicit feedback from parents to make improvements.
- Conduct training of staff in all Center safety roles and regulations.
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date health records for staff and children.
- Enforce staff habits that result in clean and healthy care of children.
- Maintain a clean environment through scheduled cleaning and visual checks.
- Inform parents of any communicable disease exposure.
- Ensure someone with first aid/CPR training is always present.
- Maintain emergency telephone numbers and an emergency plan, and conduct drills.
- Maintain building, equipment, and grounds through daily safety checks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (including, or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field), and one year of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff.
- New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential, and one year of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood or a related field with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, and two years of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, and two years of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood or a related field with a plan of study leading to a New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential, and two years of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff.
