About the Role

Join our dynamic team as a Safety & Health Professional supporting NextEra Energy's Wind Operations in the South Hub. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in safeguarding our workforce across the hub’s wind fleet and strengthening safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Strategically deploy safety resources and champion safety culture with considerable autonomy.
• Drive compliance initiatives.
• Conduct field assessments.
• Improve job packages and safety plans.
• Support tactical teams.
• Deliver impactful presentations.
• Leverage data analytics to be proactive and continuously improve safety processes and procedures.
• Build strong partnerships with external regulatory agencies and internal operational teams.
• Guide key strategic initiatives.
• Lead teams and provide technical guidance on critical procedures.
• Mentor colleagues through safety coaching and training.
• Conduct thorough root cause analyses (RCAs) to recommend actionable improvements.
• Lead and support safety programs across the hub’s wind generation sites by driving regulatory compliance, conducting field assessments, investigating incidents, and fostering a strong safety culture.
• Partner with PGD Safety, operational teams and regulatory agencies to identify risks, implement safety improvements, and provide technical leadership, training, and coaching across the organization.
• Provides regulatory interpretation of OSHA, state and provincial regulations.
• Identifies key strategic initiatives and leads site teams by providing technical guidance on procedures and processes to assure employee safety and compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Provides onsite safety coaching, training, and leadership.
• Performs injury analysis and recommends corrective actions.
• Recommend enhancements to the safety management system.
• Conduct job safety analysis of tasks being performed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Provides onsite support to power plants to provide technical guidance on compliance issues, training, and site assessments.
• Partners to develop and implement best practices and proactive initiatives aimed at eliminating injuries and illnesses.
• Supports programs to achieve an injury-free lifestyle vision that extends to off-duty injury prevention.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, or comparable industrial environments.
• Deep understanding of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.269, 1926), ANSI, NFPA, and NESC standards.
• Proven leadership in safety program development, training delivery, and investigations.
• Effective communicator who can engage diverse audiences—from frontline workers to executive leadership—both in-person and virtually.
• Technical writing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other digital platforms.
• Self-starters who can influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to identify field hazards and provide practical mitigation strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Safety and/or Occupational Health preferred) plus 4+ years in the energy/utility sector, OR a minimum of 8 years of experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years of safety experience plus 3 years other applicable experience).
