About the Role

Black & McDonald’s Facilities Maintenance team is growing! We're looking for a committed and collaborative Building Operator to join our innovative team. This role involves conducting routine inspections and performing maintenance on various sites in and around the Greater Toronto Area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine property and site inspections and perform maintenance as required on various sites.
• Complete preventive/demand maintenance tasks including chemical treatment, filter changes, belt replacement, lubrication, cleaning of utility rooms, fire prevention system maintenance, and equipment testing/inspection.
• Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, and life safety systems.
• Monitor electrical power distribution systems and building automation systems, responding to alarms expeditiously and methodically.
• Perform minor repairs such as replacing washers/faucets, clearing sinks/toilets/drains, replacing pumps/motors, and resetting breakers.
• Ensure maximum energy efficiency by inspecting, operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical/electrical systems and equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with government codes and regulations.

• Building Environment System certificate or a trade license (BES 1 and/or 2).
• Building Operator with 1-3 years’ facilities maintenance and operations experience.
• Strong technical capabilities in building systems and equipment.
• Ability to work independently, travelling to various sites in the GTA.
• Excellent customer service skills in ensuring client requests are responded to professionally and promptly.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces and/or working at heights.
• Bending and lifting (under 30kg) required.
• Valid driver’s license is required, with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
• Must validate full vaccination prior to hire due to client requirements.
