Seeking a proactive and organized Family Assistant & House Manager to support a busy family of four in San Francisco's Inner Sunset neighborhood. This role is crucial for maintaining a calm, organized, and well-cared-for home environment, allowing the parents more family time. The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker, tech-savvy, and comfortable with children, bringing warmth, patience, and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Support school pickups and after-school activities.
  • Provide supervision and backup childcare as needed.
  • Offer Thursday evening childcare support for date nights.
  • Prepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks for school days.
  • Ensure sports uniforms are ready for practice and game days.
  • Assist with packing/unpacking and preparing for family travel.
  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Perform daily resets to keep the home tidy.
  • Handle light tidying tasks including dishes, surfaces, and trash disposal.
  • Manage seasonal décor swaps.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest preparations.
  • Change batteries in household items and perform minor touch-ups like spot painting.
  • Wash, fold, and put away laundry, including ironing and special garment care.
  • Manage linen rotation for children's rooms.
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning, and occasional gift shopping.
  • Manage mail and package handling.
  • Break down boxes for recycling.
  • Unload grocery deliveries and prep produce.
  • Prepare healthy snacks for the children.
  • Maintain kitchen clean-up and general organization.
  • Minimize food waste and support fridge organization.
  • Take the family vehicle to the car wash and perform light interior cleaning.
  • Restock car essentials and refuel the vehicle as needed.
  • Schedule regular vehicle maintenance.
  • Perform occasional deep cleans of appliances and areas like the fridge, oven, baseboards, garage, mudroom, and entryway.
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers.
  • Undertake organizational projects for toys, gear, and kids' spaces.
  • Manage and update the shared household Google Calendar.
  • Support travel planning and logistics.
  • Research and coordinate children's activity enrollment and scheduling.
  • Coordinate events and appointments.
  • Oversee vendor coordination for repairs and property maintenance.
  • Manage outdoor spaces by picking up toys and organizing items.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free and fragrance-free environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation required; family vehicle available and preferred for use with children.
  • Clean driving record and a safe, responsible driver.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations required (general, COVID, and flu).
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Must be experienced, mature, and genuinely proactive.
  • Must be a systems thinker who enjoys creating order.
  • Must be tech-savvy and comfortable with shared digital tools like Google Calendar.
  • Must use kind communication while being clear and direct.
  • Must ask great questions and follow through reliably.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance the big picture with small details.
  • Must be able to prioritize in real time, pivot when plans change, and stay calm and capable.
  • Must be at ease around active, high-energy kids and bring warmth, patience, and consistency.

  • Must understand where to step in, take ownership, and support from behind the scenes.
  • Must pride oneself on dependability and flexibility.

  • May bring an eye for design.
  • May pitch in on light research tasks, sourcing camps and activities, comparing household products, or helping find thoughtful solutions for the home.
